ROBERT

Arrived the 9th March not long after new owners took over and seemed to have sacked most of the staff irrespective that it has effected paying guests and also the poor staff that is left is way way over stretched. Bar staff 1 person now who is also the waiter clearing tables at meal times, cleaning outside pool area and general dogs body thanks to the new management hence no one available at the bar on a regular basis. The food is dire and very very hard to just get the bare minimum now, no cereal at breakfast today and for the 4th day running no packets of butter. There is no cold meats at lunch time or evening meal for the lettuce , cucumber, tomato they put out. The desert is ice cream and jelly with tinned fruit and a cake every day. Lunch and evening meals are 1 fish and 1 meat , chips, pasta , rice , and normally tinned veg. Plates are never heated . We spoke to a couple yesterday who were here last year and thought as far as a budget holiday went it was ok, but now horrified at the change and the pure disregard for paying customers. Our sheets in the room have not been changed in a week, we placed our towels after a few days in the bath as normal in hotels to be changed only to come back and find them hanging outside and not changed, The room itself is very dated but ok s we dont spend must time there, the fridge has not been defrosted in many many months as the freezer box is almost solid ice and nothing can be fitted in. The bed are as hard as nails in our case and really really noisy , everyone seems to have lumpy pillows and frayed towels. You cannot hire towels here for the pool area and only 1 key per room unlike most hotels which is aquard at times. The cooker has no decals and does not seem to heat properly so even to make a cup of tea or coffee most resort to the microwave as there is no kettles in the rooms. IF you are old or frail or have health issues avoid this hotel like the plague, from reception you have to climb a lot of steps to get to most of the accomadation, the roads around the complex are cobbled so not suitable for wheeling luggage, There are no trollies here, there is no one to help with luggage if you are not able. We hired a budget car so did not have this issue but a lot of others were not happy. The outside tables and chairs were full of sand dust the past 2 days and not cleaned leaving it not really suitable to sit. NOT the bar staffs fault as 1 person cannot do everything. General feeling amongst people is that the new management could not care less about the current guests, they just want to get a bit of painting and decorating done outside to take the overall bad look of the place. There is ZERO day activities or entertainment at this hotel , evening entertainment is ZERO 6 nights a week. The high light is a Saturday when a singer comes in for a few hours which was good. The AI drinks are very limited compared to other 3 and 4 star hotels. Overall avoid this hotel, THIS is the first bad review I have left as I normally like to leave positive reviews and we are well used to budget holidays

Wish we had stayed at home

At 76 years of age over 60 very steep steps to our apt was a nightmare. The room was very cold. The heater did nor work and we were told it was impossible to repair. Half way through our hol the heater in bathroom packed in and we were told the same. The bar and restaurant were very cold and no heating in there. We did not expect it to be red hit but at least warm. The staff apart from Antonio were quite rude and in reception only the men were helpful. Food was not always hot and Wes repetitive. Quality of food was very poor. Meat fish and poultry were the cheapest cuts although the chef did his best with what he had. The dining room was not adequate for the amount of people that were there. We went to old town and had meals there. As we had paid for AI this just put extra money on our holiday. We could walk down but had to get a taxi back as it was so very steep. And I mean STEEP!!! The only plus was that the water in shower was hot. Never again would we stay there.

The best thing about my stay was...

The pool area and the view ( apparently the pools were new)

Less than basic

Where do I start ...I am very east going and never care to much about accommodation once I have somewhere to lay my head that's clean..first off I emailed hotel three times prior to arrival to request if possible we have a ground floor apt as a member of group had recently had knee injury ..no reply's ..we got put in one if the highest up blocks a mere 75 steps to get to pool area and even more to go reception. We would have gotten over this had there been suitable means to get luggage to room but no you had to drag up hills and all them steps..then you open your room door and smell of must hots you ..you are greeted by very dated furniture and fittings and dirt . Yes dirt filth..there were marks on towels etc ..lights didn't work ..balcony had two rusted out chairs and a bit of table ..towel and toilet roll were also low and when you asked it was like there should be enough..we were all inclusive and food was OK a bit hit and miss..there aren't enough sunbeds for guests and this is in October I'd hate see what like in peak season. All in all I would not recommend anyone to stay here if you have issues with walking or kids especially with buggies as so hard to get up and down steps, or to anyone who likes clean apartments as you will be very dissapointed. Albufeira is beautiful and would visit again just not anywhere near this hotel..

The best thing about my stay was...

The view from the pool area

Base for golfing trip

We arrived on 5 October 2016 and were an all male golfing party numbering 6 sharing 3 studios on an all inclusive board basis. The studio's were large enough and were clean and reasonably well equipped. I found the food to be good although there was a limited choice. The staff were friendly even though they were always under pressure. In the restaurant regularly items of food crockery or cutlery would run out and require chasing. The Panorama bar was too small causing clients to spill over into the restaurant which caused problems when the restaurant wanted to close. The all inclusive beer was served in small flimsy plastic glasses requiring frequent visits to the bar and queuing. Although a gin and tonic was available during the day at the pool bar there was no tonic in the Panorama bar in the evening. The pool area was clean and tidy and appeared to accommodate all who wanted to use it. The hotel is near enough to the old town and beach but is a stiff uphill walk to get back.

The best thing about my stay was...

The red wine was great in the restaurant, served at room temperature and in glasses.

ok dont pay too much

booked a studio got a 2 bedroom & 2 bathroom apartment for 2 people with 2 great balconies 1 overlooking the sea and one the pool, clean but dated. food was poor breakfast best meal, snacks were better than the main meals. not enough sunbeds so would hate to go in high season as there was people fighting over the few there was and you had go down to the pool really early to get a sunbed. complex well away from any activity which was great for us but not if you wanted any nightlife.

The best thing about my stay was...

peace and quiet

Where did they get the advertised photo from?

I think they must have one updated, upgraded room that they show. Our room (A1 31) has not been changed since the 60's when it was built. Patio door that neither opened or closed, flimsy front door lock, shower fitting that connected to the bath taps, 1980's type tube TV, one towel change in 4 days, food almost inedible - chips, bread and ice cream the best bits, pool dirty and milky coloured....

The best thing about my stay was...

The weather was amazing for Sept.

Dated, musty and beds rotten

Rooms feel unsafe, found cigarette butts in a bucket under the sink. The bed smelled mouldy and the food in the restaurant was inedible.

The best thing about my stay was...

The atmosphere in the Moroccan themed bar.

16 September 2016

Quiet but we had a laugh

The apartment was 70s style, but clean and we had a balcony that overlooked the pool and sea. There are a lot of steps and the hills are very steep, bring walking shoes. The breakfast was good, I wasn't that keen on the other food but my partner had no complaints. The staff all worked very hard, and very quite humerus. Entertainment could have been better.Pool area large, we don't use the sun beds but I think there should have been more for the option

The best thing about my stay was...

The holiday overall,

Nice Apartments

Decent sized apartments, however not worth what we paid. Only one pool area which was disappointing given the number of apartments. Extremely steep from one end to the other and slippy surfaces doesn't help with the walking. We went as a group and were satisfied with the stay. One thing many reviews all say and which I would agree with is that pool staff are extremely slow- one bar member with a mile queue and working at a ridiculously slow pace. Amenities are okay. Shop not too far away and most excursions can be booked from reception. Definitely more of a family resort or maybe even a relaxing couples holiday and not soo suited to a young group.

The best thing about my stay was...

Pool clean and reasonable size.
