We had a great time

The apartment was a good size & was very clean. The pool area was lovely the only problem was you had to be there early in order to get a bed. There wasn't any entertainment at the hotel but you can use the other hotels that are linked to it.

Good holiday

Just returned from Cala Azul Gardens . When we booked we asked for a pool view but when we arrived was allocated a room at the back with no sun on balcony. After speaking with receptionist and explaining this was our third visit to the complex they agreed to change our room after 2 days. What a difference this made to the rest of our holiday. The rooms are very dated but clean. Overall had a really good holiday after a disappointing start. Cala Dor is quiet at night if you are looking for busy bars but plenty of very good eating places.

Fantastic holiday and the best hotel we have ever stayed in!

The Cala Azul Garden is part of 3 hotels in the area with the opportunity to use the facilities at all 3. We liked the Gardens as they were very quiet and you were able to get away from it all for a decent nights sleep, however we absolutely loved the Esmerelda and its facilities and this is where we spent all our holiday. We were able to get 4 loungers together every morning up until about 10am, where else can you do that?? The Animation team were fabulous. They didn't pester you or take over the pool area, you joined in if you wanted to and they left you alone if you didn't. They worked really hard and both my children age 9 and 11 had an absolute blast doing the various sports on offer. The shows at night are a bit amateur but great fun and as I say they work really hard. The food was the best we have ever had at a hotel abroad and was varied with items being cooked fresh in the resteraunt. I totoally recommend this holiday for families with children of any age. We met so many families who were on their 7th, 8th, 9th year of going to this hotel and we understand why. We are booking for next year, and will use Alpha romms again as everything was so slick and smooth, it was a hassle free experience.

The best thing about my stay was Half board which is very economical - much cheaper than eating out.

Good holiday for the price

We knew the area and have friends with a villa near by so wanted a base to stay in but spent our days with our friends. The apartment was basic but had everything we needed, was comfortable and very clean. We were very upset to find that you had to pay for the key to your safe in the room which we have never done before. The location is very nice, off the main drag in a quiet spot with lovely pool and bar. We went half board which we were very pleased with as the food was lovely with something for everyone - even fussy children.

Great Stay!

Had a great time. Apartments were clean and tidy and well located off the main street. Large pool with a seperate one for child which my 3 year old lived in our stay. Just a short walk across the road to the beach and the other hotels within the same group. We had an apartment on the 3rd floor right at the end and found it very quiet which was great. Overall a good stay and would come back again.

Very Family Friendly

We have just returned from a 11 night stay at the Cala Azul Gardens Apartments. The apartments were spacious with a small kitchen area including 2 rings, fridge, kettle, toaster. Bedroom was large with 2 single beds, large wardrobe space & dressing table. Lounge was comfortable & had more storage space, TV with BBC 1 & 2, BBC news & Sky news and lead onto a large balcony. The apartment was very clean & only 2 days from the 11 the room wasn't serviced. We seen the staff cleaning the pool each morning, mopping down chairs at the snack bar & sunbeds and were very impressed with how the apartments & the grounds were maintained. The swimming pool is big for the ratio of apartments and even in August it was never really busy. The reservation of sunbeds early was happening but more so, so people could get a parasol, the sunbeds were still available throughout the day. You could hear noise from other guests in neighbouring apartments but as it is mainly families at the apts it was not prolonged & not late at night. The location is great with 2 beaches within a 5 minute walk. Supermarket is just outside the main entrance also a selection of shops, snack bars, restaurants. Should the need arise the chemist & medical center is there too. We throughly enjoyed our first stay here and couldn't fault the accomadation. Cala D'or is a lovely resort with great beaches, friendly locals & easy to navigate. The centre is only a 10 min walk away & you can get a taxi to the marina for €6 which is well worth a look. We would have no problems recommending the accomodation or resort to families & will definitely be returning.

Ideal Location!

Stayed at Cala Azul Garden Apartments 1st-8th Sept 2007. Arrived to a spacious spacious clean apartment, decent sized bathroom, large lounge with dining table and small kitchen which is only 2 rings and a Fridge ! Huge balcony and decent sized bedroom with twin beds. The TV had 3 English channels, BBC1, BBC2 and Sky News which was great to have on whilst in your apartment. The aprtments are part of a group of 3, the other 2 are a short walk away. These are just apartments with a tiny Reception desk, fab swimming pool and a poolside snack bar. The good points are the location, right in the middle of everything but set back so no night time noise, which incidently ends at midnight in all the bars and the size of the apartment. The bad was the noise from the Cleaners, dragging of furniture across the floor and the buzzers for each apartment. Unfortunatly whilst lying in bed you could hear whoever was above you go to the loo! Cala Ferrera which is where these apartments are has everything a typical Costa resort has in abundance. The Marina is definitely worth a look around and the restaurants down there are particularly good. Ideal for kids as there's 2 outdoor areas with trampolines, rides, dogemns, bungey trampolines and an amusement arcade. Loved the resort and would go back, possibly to the same apartments if we could have the top floor, they are 3 storey. The noise really really was annoying.

Cala Azul Garden

This apartment complex is one of a group of hotels and apartments in the area with the main facillities being at the Cala Azul Park, a large hotel 3 minutes walk across a small square just outside the Cala Azul Gardens. The Cala Azul Gardens is mainly an accomodation block with a large swimming pool, snack bar and a small reception which seems to be open 24 hrs. You can however, use any of the pools and facillities at the other compexes and if you were staying here half board, you would walk across to the Cala Azul Park for your meals. The apartment was very spacious with 2 single beds in a bedroom and 2 sofa beds in a large lounge with a small kitchen and dining area at one end. Both rooms had doors that opened onto a large balcony which also had a small table and chairs. There was also a 3 line retractable clothes line...just remember your pegs! There was a tv which picked up Sky news, bbc world news and bbc2. The building only had 2 floors above ground level and there was a lift. A member of the entertainment team came across from the Cala Azul Park everyday to organise a few games including water polo but if you like to be involved in more activities you could go across to the Cala Azul Park to join in other things. There was the usual scrum for sunbeds and people did put their towels out very early although we always managed to find one or two available later in the day. There was a shortage of parasols. The complex is actually in Cala Ferrera and the centre of Cala D'or is a 10 minute walk away, but there are lots of shops and restaurants just outside the complex so we only visited Cala D'or once. There are also little fairground parks nearby for younger children. Overall, the complex was very clean and I would definitely stay here again.

Review of 'CALA AZUL GARDEN'

Having never been to Majorca nor booked a hotel via the internet without ever first seeing the destination, there was some trepidation as to what we might find. Eventually found the aparthotel (the entrance is via a small off street walkway) we were told by the reception that they were overbooked! Not a good start but the reception staff were very apologetic and said that we were booked in just around the corner and it would be only for a few nights.

Not happy but we went to have a look. Suffice to say the alternative was a dump and so we went back and suggested (politely) they find an alternative.

This they did with good grace and we ended up in a very nice hotel right on the beach at Cala Ferrara. Eventually we stayed for 3 nights at this venue – very nice but it wasn’t what we booked.

Eventually we moved to the Azul Garden on the 4th day of our holiday. The accommodation was a 1 bedroom apartment with sofa beds in the living room/kitchenette. The adults got the bedroom (ha) and the two 13 year old boys bagged the sofa beds.

The apartment was functional, simply furnished and clean. During our stay the maid came every couple of days so cleanliness was not an issue. Plenty of room for us all as we only used it for sleeping after spending the days swimming, eating and drinking. It did appear to have air conditioning but maybe only for decoration as we never got it to work.

The Azul Garden is one of a number of similar aparthotels in the area all owned and run together. This means that you share some facilities (dining room, entertainment) and can use any other facilities if you so wish. Meals (breakfast only for us) was provided at the Cala Azul Park and every time we made use of it the food was more than OK there was loads for everyone. Tended to stuff ourselves for breakfast then not eat till the evening.

Each day a member of the entertainment staff came to the Azul Garden to cajole and threaten kids and adults into taking part in everything from darts, boules, water polo and shuffleboard. The young guy we had during our stay was good and every day he trailed kids like the Pied Piper.

Great mix of nationalities with British, Scandinavians and Dutch in the majority. There is nothing like a good “friendly” game of water polo to foster international relationships – not!!! Generally no problems for sunbeds around the pool – if you reserved with a towel before 08:00 it was removed!
