Wasnt expecting much due to the mixed review, but don't listen, the hotel is lovely, staff are lovel, food is very good something for everyone as I am a very fussy eater I managed to find.something I liked every mealtime. The kids club staff are amazing, make everything so personal and are fab at the mini discos. The best thing about the hotel is the entertainment staff especially Lauren, they are friendly and genuine, there are many activities during the day to suit everyone!! Also the nighttime was.good too, they work so hard to make sure.you enjoy your holiday.

First time to Costa Tequise and to El Trebol. Have to admit it is not the prettiest place we have ever stayed in and it could do with being refurbished. The rooms were big and clean, maid service every two days. The choice and quality of food were very good. We were all inclusive and I would advise people to do the same, kitchen area in the apartments very small and not very well equipped. Not sure if this was because we were all inclusive or not. Do have to say when I book an apartment I do expect a kettle to come with the package. I had to hire one at a Euro per day! not lots of money, but I did object to it. Do not bother paying for the Wi Fi,it is awful, the speed is as fast as a snail going backwards and most guests could not even pick it up in their rooms. My other main complaint is the standard of drink, my husband was ok as he was on the beer, and as he says Beer is Beer. I was drinking Vodka & Diet Coke. The alcohol is not great and the mixers even worse. To make my drink palatable I bought diet Pepsi from the Spar just outside the apartments, it only cost 89 cents and made the drink much better. I do have to say the barmaids worked their socks off and were very efficient so you never had to wait a long time to be served. El Trebol itself is around a 20 minute walk from the main square in Costa Tequise, probably less if you are younger and more able than my husband and I. There are a few bars and restaurants just outside the complex, the main one being Cactus Jacks which is a minutes walk away. They do happy hours at 8.30 - 9.30 and 12 - 1am each evening, have live entertainment each evening and then karaoke later in the night. Stays open to the wee small ours too if you are so inclined. The apartments entertainment is mainly provided by the Thomas Cook reps and I have nothing but praise for these young kids, they worked their socks off. All entertainment and drinks are only provided in one bar, it is a pity they don't have two as not everyone wants to sit through the kids entertainment. I do have to say for us it was not a problem and some of the kids were so so funny and they did have a ball. The pool area are fantastic, it was just a pity that the weather was not great during our stay, but if you have kids they would love it.

great apartment, very clean hotel and pool and a good variety of food if you go half board or all inclusive. Just don't bother paying for the tv as it only shows BBC1, Paramount ad CBS but entirely up to you

Clean hotel initially but maid never swept the room within 5 nights. Hotel itself was good with good facilities. A little be far out from the centre for us (15 minutes to the square) but there are bars nearby. 5 to 10 minutes to the beach. Knife in the drawer could have been sharper, struggled to cut tomatoes! Wifi wasn't brilliant in the reception area. Staff very helpful.

The best thing about my stay was ...

El Trebol apartments

, United Kingdom

My husband and I and our 5 children have just left the Trebol Apartments, after a lovely 10 day holiday. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, and the buffet in particular was of a high standard, with plenty of variety, something to suit everybody. Whilst the apartments themselves were fairly basic, everything else more than made up for this. The grounds were well kept, the entertainment team were friendly and enthusiastic, and we had a very relaxing break, would recommend.

The best thing about my stay was ...

The choice of foods in the buffet, our children range from 22 down to 6,and they found plenty of food they liked,as did my husband and I.

Just spent Christmas with our family of mixed age group, at El Trebol appts. We were there all inclusive and found the food to be very good, with a fantastic spread put on for the Gala Dinner on Christmas Day. Some apartments were being re furbished and painted, we were not happy with the first 2 aparts they offered us (bit tatty and one was still being painted!) but we got nice ones in the end and they were happy to move us. The pools are good but were very cold and hard to get into. We enjoyed our stay, but the entertainment at night was mainly for the children and nothing good for the adults, which was a bit boring as we were all inclusive, and did not want to go out of hotel. we did venture out a couple of nights though, Catcus Jacks bar is just around the corner and great entertainment, music and dancing. overall the cleanliness of the hotel needs to be improved, some public areas like corridors were not cleaned.

this is now my 5 or 6 year going to the same hotel, this year i was so disappointed, the food wasnt great at all, had food poisoning for two days was very ill, the food was the same every day, no variety at all , food was also cold except one day, we were there for four weeks, i love going to the same place but their were little things, sun beds didn't open til 9 or later, breakfast was over at 10 so is was a big rush, we were given toilet roll one day out of the four weeks, beds were not cleaned often enuf, cleaning lady came in some days and just done the bin, there was someone painting the walls were young children were going around, the entertainment wasnt as good as other years, there was all little things that need to be checked up on but over all i enjoy the hotel and the staff are lovely, my children enjoy the el trebol and with all the little faults i would still go back,

2014 holiday

, Barnoldswick Lancashire

Stayed at El Trebol send of May beginning of June 2014 . We had 3 adults and 3 children ( 10, 3 and 22 months ) in our party. We requested ground floor rooms due to the push chair but were given 2nd floor with pool views, which was a request. We managed with the buggy but it would have been better on ground floor. Could not fault our rooms, spacious, clean and well equipped . All inclusive and the food was great with plenary of choice and variety. Pool was cold but once you were actually in it wasn't too bad. Hotel staff were very polite and helpful. Children loved it too, the entertainers were brilliant, Gemma and Ben were fantastic . Will definately go again but July or August as first couple of days were dull and very cloudy.

The best thing about my stay was ...

The set up of the hotel was great, sun and friends and meeting new people

Staff really friendly in special Valeria (at the bar) and Daniel (lifeguard at the pool). Food was excellent , lots of variety, and trays constantly coming out whatever time you arrived for lunch, breakfast or dinner (within the right hours), grill food cooked in front of you, everywhere clean, 6 minutes walk to the closest beach, free wifi in the reception area only. these was all great, a bit bad: one of our windows didn't lock we told them they didn't do anything, lucky we were on the 3rd floor if it was ground floor anybody could have come inside our room through the balcony, even it was all inclusive, silly things like safe in your room, TV channels or play pinball you had to pay. Beer draught was terrible, worse beer I had in my life, spirits were drinkable nothing fantastic, mixers horrible (they seem to have mix orange crumbs with water and shake it to make fanta). All entertainment was in English even Lanzarote is in Spain, so it you don't understand it, don't bother. 80% of customers were English and Scotish Between good things and bad things.......I would go back, I had a great time. and little things did not ruin it. They could improve these bad things to make it better.

First holiday abroad

, Pontefract, West Yorkshire, UK

Was a first for us, my wife had never been out of the uk so was quite daunting. Our party consisted of myself, wife, 2 daughters ( 1 at 18 , and 1 at 4) and the bother in law. First impressions.. hot, weather was absolutely gorgeous, the staff at el trebol were brilliant, we had no idea what to do as we arrived at 23:30 so nothingh was open, because of flioght delay we had missed the food, the front desk soon made arrangements and we had some food delivered to our rooms - brilliant. The hotel itself is quite well laid out, our room overlooked the kiddies pool, always clean and well maintained. First experience of all inclusive, well impressed, other reviews have made comments about the food, but as we had no other comparison it was brilliant, it was good that there was the local dishes to try but always catered for the english. Overall we really enjoyed our 7 day stay at El Trebol so much that when we returned to the Uk my wife has booked for us to go again in Aug 2013 for 2 weeks, must have made an impression. Thank You to all staff at El Trebol and also the staff of Thomas Cook and we will see you again this summer.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Friendliness of staff, cater for younger and older children. Very clean, Great atmosphere.

Value for money

, Sheffield

The rooms at the El Trebol were huge but in need of a make over very dated and shabby however clean and the beds were comfy. The pools and grounds were very nice and there were sun beds a plenty, however they were the most uncomfortable beds i have ever known. The tomas cook reps kept everyone entertained during the day and into the evening with a nightly music quiz and bingo, and their interpretation of musical comedy, there were a couple of local acts on which were good and the usual bird and reptile shows, the lager was drinkable local spirits not bad but the mixers ie coke lemonade etc were terrible people were buying their own. drinks are served in decent sized plastic glasses and the bar staff would allow more than one drink per visit, which is always good. The bar closes at exactley 11.30 and there were no provision to purchase more if you wanted to, there is a couple of bars just outside the hotel offering fair priced drinks and entertainment so no worries. The food was okay not great but not bad, only real complaint was that it never seemed hot enough and then with just a couple of days left they produced a microwave which improved matters, also meals were not a very happy affair as the music they play in the resturant was terrible more suited to a funeral. Having said all this we enjoyed the week we stayed there and would probally go again.

The Low Down

, Ballyclare

Duration - 23rd July - 3rd August Family Make Up - 2 x Adults 1 x Senior & 1 x 12 year old Board - All Inclusive The check in was the quickest ever. Within 5mins wrist bands were on, info leaflets & keys given. At first I thought I had made a mistake because from the outside the apartments looked like Butlins but i quickly discovered the reason for this was because all apartments faced onto one or more of the four pools & gardens, absolutely lovely. Rooms - Yes they were basic but absolutely massive & completely spotless with daily towel changes & bed making plus 3 x sheet changes during our stay. You entered the apartment via a small hallway with doors to the living/kitchen area, bathroom & bedroom. Both the bedroom & bathroom had access via sliding doors to a large furnished balcony with a clothesline. The kitchen had all you would need plus a full size fridge & the bedroom had lots of storage & hangers. TV was extra but I didnt go on holiday to watch TV & no aircon but again with the Lanzarote breeze it wasnt required. Pool Area- Cleaned daily and lots of loungers. Yes if you wanted a brollie you needed to stake your claim by 7.00am but you could get a lounger around the pool at 10.00am. Life Guard on duty and the entertainment team worked hard to amuse kids & adults alike but were not intrusive. If there were any plastic cups about it was because the lazy Brits would not put them in the numerous bins after use. Food - This was always plentiful hot when should be hot & cold when it should be cold. All foods areas & tables cleared extremely quickly. Breakfast included the usual items sausage bacon various eggs, fruit, cold meats etc including freshly made crepes, & fantastic scrambled eggs. Lunch/Dinner chicken, pork, veal, fish etc all widely available alongside salads, chips, pasta & rice. The pool bar open 10.00-18.00 provided burgers, hotdogs, pizza, ribs, etc plus ice cream cones which you could make yourself. Drinks - Forget the two drinks only rule this didnt apply as we were always given what we ordered. I never had to wait more than a few minutes day or nite to get served. Soft drinks, water. tea, coffee etc you just dispensed yourself Entertainment - The usual stuff, kids disco, bingo & reptile, magician, acrobat shows & quizes etc. The team tried hard & you have got to give them credit. Staff - I can honestly say in my 12 years of family holidays I have never met more friendly, happy, obliging members of staff than El Trebol. They are truly this hotels greatest asset. They all seemed to work extremely long hours but no matter whether they were clearing your table, serving you drinks, cleaning your rooms, they all had a smile & even cracked a joke or two. Our service industry in the UK could learn a lot from the staff of El Trebol Overall - If you want a family orientated holiday with great pool area, large clean rooms, fabulous staff then this hotel is for you but remember Lanzarote is a lovely island go & see it plus outside of the hotel the Green Cactus bar has great entertainment & cheap drinks. Also the Shanghai in the main town does a lovely authentic chinese meal. Happy holidays

Another great stay - Basic but clean, friendly and great value

, Luton

This is my 8th short stay at this hotel. It;s perfect for me as the food is fine, the rooms are clean and large enough, it's close to the local shops and supermarkets and there are dozens of bars/restaurants a 10 minute walk away if you need them. The staff always remember me and they are all friendly and helpful. Thomas Cook now run the entertainment which is typical Canarian hotel stuff (better after a few glasses of something! ha ha) I will continue to come back here for my short breaks. It's about 20 mins from the airport and La Cucharas beach is 5 mins away if you like beaches. Great place.
