Away from the beaten track - just as we like it.

We have stayed in Callao Salvaje for many years. It's a quiet area and only a short taxi ride to the hustle and bustle of quality restaurants and lively bars & nightlife. There are many eateries and bars all centered within walking distance of the self catering apartment complexes. There is now a beach, the people are friendly and hospitable.

Quiet but some really nice restaurants!!

We found the resort very quiet but that suited us as we have young children! There are buses to all the bigger resorts that run regularly!! Casa Maria do the best steak I have ever had it was great!! Surpressa Surpressa is very good as well!! There are plenty of supermarkets to get any supplies you need!! They are building a beach so this should be a bonus for next year!! Would definately go again! Great base!!

Fairly quiet resort which has grown over recent years - not near a good beach

We visited Jan 2011 A quiet resort which is steadily growing. The beach is small with black sand. Apparantly it is going to be made over soon so it can be used by tourists etc.. Plenty of shops and supermarkets. Larger well known supermarkets about 10 minutes away. Up the west coast so gets good weather in the winter months compared to Los Crisianos and Las Americas - About 20 minutes drive to these areas. About 20 minutes up to Los Gigantes. We also went up Mount Teide for a bbq and had a great day out. Nice resort but need a car. Not good if you need to be next to a good beach.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Quiet area. Good weather in the winter compared to other resorts.

Great resort for a quiet holiday

Just returned from 10 days in Callao Salvaje staying at the Callao Garden. The resort itself is very quiet however there are quite a few restaurants and bars that cater for all ages. They are still building a beach on the sea front which will be fab once it's finished. We were all inclusive although did eat out a few times at the Casa Maria which was lovely. Quite a few of the bars had good offers on beer and cocktails and most showed football matches which my husband sloped off to watch during our stay! The resort is well situated for hiring a car to explore the local area with Playa de las Americas and Los Gigantes being within 30 min drive. We hired a car from Poul's Danish Autos who seemed to be the only car hire place that was ever open!!

Quiet but everything you need

Enough bars and restaurants to keep ya going for a couple of weeks. When the beach is completed it will change the resort hopefully for the better. Until then enjoy the peace and quiet or a good base for the livelier resorts

A quiet peaceful place and not for the younger crowd I should think. Plenty of bars and places to eat but a little more expensive than the las americas and los cristianos areas. Should be improved a little when the new beach opens very shortly.

A relaxed stay.

Its a sleepy little village but in a nice and relaxed way and we loved it. A few cheap but nice restaurants and a couple of shops that´s it. A pretty nice non natural beach with black volcanic sand is "built" instead of the former rocky beach and there´s a beachbar that serves some drinks and snacks.

The best thing about my stay was ...

A quiet area with relaxed locals.

Suited us, plenty of restaurants and bars, not worried about the lack of a beach

No high rise and no loud night life. Loved the sea but of course no beach as yet. Next time it might have changed. People generally helpful and polite.

Small and ideal for families but no beach... apparently they are building a beach for the last couple of years but didnt see any work being done on it while we were there.

The best thing about my stay was ...
