Holidays & Hotels in Playa De Las Americas

Hotels in Playa De Las Americas

Variety is the name of the game when it comes to Playa De Las Americas holiday accommodation. There are large resorts, cheap apartments, and even entire villas that can be rented for a family or a large group of friends.

Built in the 1960s, this lively Tenerife resort is known as the party capital of the island, but it has lots to keep all family members entertained. There are watersports, golfing, boat tours, restaurants and clubs, plus six sandy beaches. A holiday to Playa De Las Americas has so much to offer, the only thing you have to consider is just whereabouts you should start!

Where to stay

Avenida las Américas

Located in the centre of Playa De Las Americas, the Avenida las Américas is just a three-minute walk from the seafront promenade. Playa del Camison, popular with young families, is the closest beach, and is fringed with rentable sun beds and palapas - that’s if you can tear yourself away from the beach’s turquoise waters. This bustling area is also surrounded by various resorts, restaurants, shops and bars.

Costa Adeje

A little further outside the main resort hubbub, the Costa Adeje area is particularly popular with families looking for a holiday somewhere a little more subdued. As well as being home to a number of bars and restaurants, this area of Playa de las Americas is close to Aqualand Waterpark - a huge complex open all-year-round that’s filled with slides, rides and even a dolphinarium.

Los Cristianos

Head further along the coast (just 20 minutes if you’re walking) and you’ll find yourself in Los Cristianos. It’s the main port town on the island’s south coast, and so you’re never too far from a boat tour or a relaxing spot on the beach. It’s got its fill of hotels and restaurants, and after dark the town comes to life with a laidback nightlife scene.

What to see

While best known for its nightlife, Playa de las Américas has much more up its sleeve than a party holiday. It’s a multi-faceted resort that has many sides to it, including family friendly attractions, shops, beaches and historical landmarks. Catch live entertainment in the form of flamboyant flamenco shows at Arona Pyramid auditorium, and ride the waves, slides and tunnels at Siam Park water park, one of the most exciting water attractions in Europe.

If you’re wanting to stretch your legs don’t miss a hike up Chayofita Mountain. With an altitude of 114m, it’s a small mountain that offers up 360-degree views across the town and over to the ocean. Alternatively, head below sea level with a diving or snorkeling trip, where you can meet some of the region’s friendly underwater residents.

Nightlife

With Playa de las Americas attracting young people far and wide for its unbeatable nightlife, you won’t be surprised to hear that there are various spots around the resort to head to. There’s everything you could need for a good night out, including casinos, tribute acts and even karaoke.

Most people start their night at the Starco Centre, before ending up in the early hours over on Veronica’s Strip. Here you’ll find heaps of clubs, bars and discos to keep you going throughout the night. For those after a quieter evening, there’s the Patch, a more family-friendly area that’s home to restaurants and pubs.

What to eat

Playa de las Americas has a wealth of restaurants on its doorstep, ranging from authentic Spanish cuisine to pizzerias, British fare and steakhouses. With its seaside location, you’re never far from a restaurant serving up fresh fish, while many of the seafront restaurants also rustle up tapas. There are also a number of high-end restaurants to hand if you fancy a meal to remember.

Shopping

Within just 1.5km, the Avenida de Las Américas offers up international brands, local shops and bargain shopping centres, providing something for all budgets. Serious shoppers will want to head to the Thai-themed Siam Mall, which boasts more than 70 shops across two floors. You’ll also find restaurants and bars under the same roof, making it a viable option for an entire day trip!

Those who fancy picking up one-of-a-kind holiday souvenirs should head to one of the nearby street markets. On Thursdays and Saturdays there’s a market in Costa Adeje; and on Tuesdays and Sundays there’s one in Los Cristianos. Both run from 9am until 2pm, allowing time for a good lie-in.

Delightful

We absolutely love Playa De Las Americas. There is always an atmosphere at night yet not too lively and lovely bars and restaurants with and without entertainment. There is a beautiful beach front with lots of bars and restaurants and there is a lovely walk from Playa De Las Americas to Los Christano where there are also lots of bars and restaurants. Can't wait to book next years.
