Istrian Riviera Hotels and Apartments
Istrian Riviera Overview
The Istrian Riviera is set on a beautiful peninsula jutting out into the Adriatic close to the border with Slovenia and Italy. This ever popular destination is home to some very popular holiday resorts as well as some idyllic hilltop towns and villages.
The international airport in Pula makes visiting the area very straightforward. Pula is on the southern tip of the peninsula and is one of the main towns on the Riviera.
The most popular holiday destinations are the coastal resorts of Umag and Porec. Umag is a small but popular resort in the north. This old town is a great mix of historical sights and beautiful beaches. The area is popular with divers in particular. Porec continues to be one of the most popular resorts in the whole of Croatia. During the summer months the town is packed with happy holidaymakers. The beaches are amazing and the clear water makes for a refreshing dip when the heat gets too much.
Head inland, away from the beaches and the peninsula reveals a quieter, more subdued way of life. Expect lofty, ancient hill top towns and lush countryside. Popular towns to visit include Motovun, Buzet and Buje.
If you want to explore the wider area consider a short hop across the border into Slovenia or even a ferry across to Venice.
The Istrian Riviera is a great place for a family holiday. Use it as a base to explore the Adriatic.
