Paphos Holidays & Hotels

Hotels in Paphos

From beachfront resorts to city central apartments, accommodation in Paphos, Cyrpus caters for all types of holidaymakers. Whether you’re after a luxury all-inclusive hotel or a cheap bed and breakfast, you’ll be spoilt for choice in this coastal city.

This bustling city welcomes a million Brits to its shores every year, and is the perfect destination for those seeking the sun and a spot of culture. It’s got historical sights, stunning beaches and a thriving nightlife, making it a holiday spot that the whole family will love!

Where to stay

Kato Paphos

As the largest area within the city, Kato Paphos is where you’ll find most of the big resorts and archaeological sites. This makes it the perfect place to base yourself during your holiday if you’re short on time or want to immerse yourself in the Paphos way of life. Along the coast is where you’ll find large family and adults-only hotels, each offering multiple outdoor pools as well as quick and easy access to the beach.

Old Town

Set away from the beaches, the Old Town offers Cypriot charm in abundance. Its historic streets are home to more traditional accommodation options, with budget rooms and apartments on offer. Located on a slight hill, it’s worth making use of the regular buses to get around the city and down to the central harbour area.

Universal district

Just over a 30-minute walk away from Paphos harbour, the Universal district is situated away from the main tourist holiday area, and so offers a slightly quieter ambience. It’s got a range of accommodation options, including luxury apartments and budget hotels, and it also benefits from being just a short bus journey away from the harbour, the Old Town and Kings Avenue Mall.

What to see

A heady mix of history and sunshine, Paphos will leave both culture vultures and sun worshippers in their element. Impossible to miss on the edge of Paphos harbour is Paphos Castle, a byzantine fortress that was rebuilt by the Ottomans in the 16th century. Today you can head up to the top for views all over the harbour. Also nearby is Kato Paphos Archaeological Park, which contains parts of the ancient Greek and Roman city, and Tombs of the Kings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that’s made up of underground tombs dating back to the 4th Century BC.

Beachlovers have their pick of golden sands, from Vrisoudia Beach near the harbour to Coral Bay just 6km south of the city. With its crescent-shaped stretch of white sands and turquoise waters, Coral Bay is one of the most popular spots in Paphos - and is also home to various water sports if you fancy getting a little adventurous. Paphos is also a city that’s filled with stories of myths and legends. Take a trip to Aphrodite’s Rock, a sea stack just a 25 minute drive south of Paphos, which is said to be the birthplace of the Greek goddess Aphrodite.

Nightlife in Paphos is typically a lot more chilled than elsewhere on the island, but there’s still a lot to keep you entertained until the early hours of the morning. The Kato Paphos area is where much of the after-dark action takes place, with pubs, cocktail bars and clubs catering for younger and older audiences. The Old Town itself is also a popular spot for cosy, more intimate cafes, bars and restaurants.

What to eat

All types of cuisines can be found in Paphos, but if you’re after more traditional Cypriot fare during your holiday, you’re in luck. This seaside city takes inspiration from various countries, from Italy to Turkey and Greece; be prepared for everything from halloumi wraps to meze, a selection of small dishes made up of everything from hummus to olives and falafel. Thanks to its coastal location, Paphos is also fond of its fish, with calamari being a popular favourite. And whatever you do, don’t leave Paphos without trying some authentic baklava - whether it’s for an evening treat or a midday snack, this sweet pastry dessert never fails to disappoint!

For souvenirs and gifts for people back home, you can’t go wrong with exploring the tourist shops dotted around Paphos harbour. But if you’re after something a little more unique, head to The Place in the Old Town. A one-stop shop for all things Cypriot, travellers can pick up authentic handicrafts, art, food and drink from one of over a dozen workshops. If you like the challenge of haggling, then Paphos Open Air Market, located at Timi village, is for you. It’s open every Sunday from 7am until 2pm, and features stalls selling local products, crafts and household goods. Meanwhile, Kings Avenue Mall offers over 120 shops from local brands to international stores, ensuring there’s something to suit all.

This was our first time in Paphos and I was very impressed. Great shops - lots of fake bags, sunglasses, jewellery etc - not particularly cheap but much better quality than you would get in Spain. Paphos town very clean and quite peaceful during the day. Don't know about the nightlife as we stayed in the hotel at night - but we drove through it one night about 8.30 and it seemed to be buzzy and lively. Lovely water park about 10 mins drive from the town - not too huge so doesn't take ages to get round, queues seem to move really quick so not a lot of waiting around and some great water slides and loads of free sunbeds - definately worth a visit. really close to the airport - only a 15 min drive

Friendly, with lots of places of interest

Good bus service into Paphos. The harbour has lots of shops and restaurants to sit and watch the world go by. There are lots of archaeological sites to visit. If you feel a little more adventurous you can hire a car, driving on the left being an advantage if you are from the UK. We braved it into the Troodos mountains to the Kykkos Monastery, well worth the visit, but not for the faint hearted if driving yourself. If you like walking the Akamas is an area of natural beauty with many trails to explore, and only 30km from Paphos. Also the Baths of Aphrodite can be found there. You will need a good map of Paphos if you are Going to explore.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Its friendly relaxed atmosphere and of course the sunshine

Beautiful City very clean near to the beach

A really beautiful City lots to do plenty of "No hassle" car hire The harbour area is just wonderful with lots of shops and boat hire both cruises or even hire a speedboat yourself. There is a large supermarket right in the middle of the shopping area that offers practically everything from food to clothes etc. The area is particularly clean litter free and plenty of bins to dispose of waste. There are many archalogical sites than can be visited within easy reach "The tombs of the Kings" is one "Aphrodities baths"etc. One should visit Coral Bay just 12 klms from the town center you can catch a bus (615) it only costs one euro and the beach is the best in Cyprus. I went there in the winter (Dec) and it was a wopping 26c cool at night though If you want a good holiday with pleanty of good sunshine then Paphos is the place to be.

Paphos has a host of history, shops and restaurants and has something for everyone. The Aquariam and the Mosaics are a must as is the night time shopping. A trip to the market to sample the local fair is also an integral part of your holiday.

Great place to visit

We stayed at this hotel in February 2011 for the children’s half term holiday. my party included adults age 30 & 27 and children aged 6 & 1. We got this half board package very cheap through alpha rooms and wasn’t expecting the quality that we received. We arranged our own flights and got a taxi transfer from Pafos airport for 30euros. The hotel is beautiful, the reception staff were very helpful and polite and went out of their way to assist us when enquiring about outings and places to visit. the hotel room was on the third floor, we wasn’t expecting it to be of the quality it was, the facilities in the room were of a high standard, hair dryer, fridge, mini bar, shampoo & shower gel dispenser, hand soap dispenser, kettle with facilities to make coffee/tea. The cleaners were fab, changed the towels we left on the floor for fresh ones. our holiday highlight was the restaurant, the staff were very professional wearing matching suits, even though it was buffet style they made an effort and were very friendly. The food was amazing!!!!! Every night was a theme, I have to rate the food better than any other country/hotel I have ever been to! Each night the selections could have made 10/12 different meals from what was available. The desserts were immense! The biggest selection of cakes, gateaux, rice puddings, crème caramel, yogurt, ice creams and fresh fruit. The breakfast was just as good if not better; I must mention the fresh pancakes that are cooked for you there and then along with your choice of omelette. Drinks can be paid for each night or added to your room bill which we found convenient. Even though their wasn’t many children the kids club was open and was fab, our son actually cried when we had to leave! The indoor pool and Jacuzzi were good for the not so sunny weather and we did use the outdoor pool once. The amount of sun beds and loungers available is good, they lead right up to the beach, there’s a direct path to the beach from the hotel so you can sit literally seconds away from it and enjoy the view of the pool and beach. The facilities for us around the hotel were good, internet terminals, rent a car desk, hair dressers, massage & beauty treatment room, mini shop / groceries and many places to sit, unwind and relax. I would definitely return to this hotel and will visit some of their others due to how this one was (Louis group). I bet it is lovely in the summer and if they can provide such high service and a good ratio of staff in Feb. then they can only provide more in summer. There is a animal park near by which was good, water park even closer & the harbour is lovely and is only a small walk up the beach here they have boat excursions, many cafes & food spots as well as Pafos castle which for a very small price you can go into and explore. Very happy family..:-)))

A resort that has improved its facilities over the past few years

A friendly relaxing resort with some excellent rest, bars and beaches. Plenty of opportunities for different walks. Some time share [scratchcard] sharks round the harbour area were a nuisance at times but there was less of them than last year. Improvements have been made to roads and paths making walking easier

The best thing about my stay was ...

The variety of places to eat and the lovely coastline
