Valletta is the place to stay if you are interested in the history of the Island

Valletta is steeped in history. It has everything on its doorstep, from Castles and forts to museums. The Knights of St. John did a wonderful job and their legacy lives on today. I cannot say a bad word about Valletta, took the Malta sightseeing bus which took us round other resorts, where there were too many people on the rocky beaches, this is not for me, so glad when bus arrived back at Valletta. Gozo is a must to visit, Ramla beach good to visit -good old fashioned beach, not that many people on it but beautiful. Only 4.65 return on ferry.

The best thing about my stay was ...

St. John's Co-cathedral to see Caravaggio, Casa Rocca house, Grand harbour and seeing the "Garry" + too much else to mention

Valetta - a seat of History

How could anyone not be moved by this wonderful historic city - built by the Knights in the 1500s and surrounded by huge fortresses, wherever you go you come across unexpected views of the superb harbours and the amazing narrow streets with vistas from one side of the archipelago to the other. Visit the Waterfront to have a coffee whilst watching the activity on the warships which have docked alongside, call in at one of the numerous cafes for superb coffee and cakes or spoil yourself in one of the many restaurants. There are churches and museums a-plenty but on a sunny day there is nothing nicer than being outside and taking in the historic beauty of this amazing place.

Delightful and compact.

Wonderful for: architecture and history incl WW2, dining, shopping - all within easy walking distance. Fine for lounging in the sun if your hotel has a pool, and as a base for exploring Malta. Stay elsewhere on the island if you want night life or the sea.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Valetta in November

Very much for sightseers, not very good for shoppers. Well serviced by buses to all parts of Malta Beware that November is out of season for some attractions eg Blue Grotto was closed after spending an hour getting there. Weather also known to be the start of the heavy rains and thunderstorms.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Central base for touring Malta
