Cala Mayor very welcoming have made many friends

The shopping areas are good value the resturants are plentiful with good food always available the beach is very clean and tidy with good toilet facillities and a really splendid beach bar that is run by a very helpful young man who has a magnetic personality coupled with good fun and interesting range of drinks just the job on warm days. The town is also very clean and tidy the shop keepers all have the ability to cope with English tourists who have not got a good grasp of Spanish and the Taxi service and bus service have to be experienced to believe the cleanliness and excellent time keeping

Quiet yet close to Palma

Cala Major is a district just outside of Palma. It has shops, retaurants, bars and bus routes. It is mainly a residential area and there are a couple of International Schools closeby. There is a small harbour and the nearest beach is a short bus ride to Illetes. The Porto Pi shopping centre is a short bus ride towards Palma with cinemas, restaurants and shops.

Not for clubbers

when we stayed in early May we found it fairly quiet there are a number of bars and eateries but not much happening. However the bus service into Palma is very good and taxis are plentifull. Cala Major beach is very good if you just want to soak up the sun and have a swim.

A fading Beauty

Cala mayor, looks like it was once a jewel in the crown... maybe 40 years ago, now it's a bit grubby...but there are a couple of more trendy (less fish and chips) bar/cafes aimed at the quite large residential population 5mins further up the road (walking) towards San Augustin where you can get quite a decent coffee in a relaxed environment

The best thing about my stay was ...

Sea is clean and lovely to swim in
