Beautiful Palma

Palma is a wonderful city for a short break in the sun. There is something for everyone. The cathedral is beautiful. The shops are numerous and there are plenty of bars and restaurants around the city. Should you be unlucky and have rainy days, there are attractions to visit, such as the aquarium and marineland or take the bus tour and sit downstairs under cover!

To a sunny place

Loads of shops , cafe bars and restaurants, dont underestimate the paseos , explore the place as it does offer a lot, in one of the local shops , we even had a 1.5 ltr of water for €0.70. Definitely have a cuppa at Fibonacci, love their blueberry cheesecake, if you are a fish lover go to Moby-Dyk, love their platter of seafood and must try paella ( all sorts) and go for a jug of sangria, i believe they cook their food with love and so much passion, must say abso-licious, if there is such a word ... For pasta lovers , go to trettoria pizerria, i love food so i am adventurous , i must say i have not eaten anything that does not satisfy my pallate!

Cultural, modern, welcoming

We loved Palma for its diversity and buzz. The cathedral is of course magnificent with its superb stained glass windows and the feeling of peace amidst a buzzing city. The shops are excellent. There are many bars and restaurants and we particularly enjoyed Cappucinos where we had lunch several times. The toilets were clean and the staff friendly. In fact we found in general that the people in Palma were very hospitable and helpful.

Palma is a beautiful city and well worth visiting. As 'mature' ladies we were happy to enjoy the ambience and atmosphere especially early evening when the city came to life. We found Palma streets very clean.

Palma - the best city in the world

So much to do, so much to see. The shops are great with a wide selection to suit all ages, styles and budget. The restaurants in the Old Town can be (as you would expect) very touristy but head for the Santa Catalina area (just west of the main town) and you will be spoilt for choice. The transport service, both local and national, is reliable and makes the rest of the island extremely accessible. Recommend the bus from the bus/train station to Pollensa/Pt Pollensa, Santa Ponsa, Andraitx, train the Soller/Pt Soller, local bus to Illetas but the options are endless. Mallorca is a beautiful island. Then, of course back in Palma, there is the sight-seeing - cathedral, museums etc etc or just strolling through the myriad streets, stumbling across another little bar in another little square or happening upon the oldest coffee shop in Palma. Palma doesn't have a beach, as such, but it is but a short stroll along in front of the cathedral towards Portixol where you can find several clean, large, safe beaches that remain unspoilt by rows of sunbeds. Palma truly is beautiful.
