Salou is a seaside resort located at the heart of the Costa Daurada in southern Spain. The mild all-year round climate, golden beaches and tranquil waters makes Salou a perfect, well rounded family resort.
Adventurous Water Sports and Family Friendly Beaches
Nine beaches are separated by rocky coves along the coastline, some with shallow calm waters; making them safe for children. The beach child minding service is sure to keep the little ones occupied with an assortment of activities and games. For the more adventurous, the Ponent and Llevant Beaches offer a variety of sporting and recreational activities during the summer months. There’s something for everyone, whether you fancy a competitive game of volleyball, paddle tennis, basketball, football, or prefer a strategic game of chess. If you’d prefer to take a dip in the sea, you may be interested in trying out one of the many water sports and activities, including sailing, jet skiing, kayaking and pedalos.
Stylish Fashion Outlets and Useful Commodities
There is an eclectic range of shops throughout the resort, offering a diverse selection of fashion items and souvenirs. Daily markets in Salou and the surrounding areas of Tarragona, Cambrils and La Pineda offer a more eclectic selection of cheap commodities; whether you need some toothpaste or a bucket and spade.
Tranquil Atmosphere and Night Life that is Stirred not Shaken
Salou offers a laid-back atmosphere, making it an ideal place to unwind. There is a range of dining options available across the resort, catering for the typical British tastes. Mediterranean and International cuisines are available as well as a range of fast food outlets for fussier travellers. The Paddock and Uncle Sam’s both offer great food and outdoor seating areas, to make the most of al fresco dining in the pleasant Mediterranean climate. Night life in the town is upbeat, with a dynamic range of bars. A variety of distinctly themed bars instill fascinating memories; whether you fancy sipping a Martini in the 007 Bond bar or swigging a pint of Guinness in Christy’s Irish Bar.
Thrills and Spills in a World Renowned Theme Park
PortAventura is a theme park, featuring a selection of family and thrill rides spread across a vast landscape of areas themed as various world destinations. The park offers an invigorating choice of entertainment with a variety of live shows and attractions that appeal to the whole family. Special events are held throughout the year, celebrating occasions such as Halloween where live actors prowl the park and in a number of themed walkaround mazes.
The Costa Caribe Water Park is situated beside the PortAventura theme park, which has a number of fun water slides, wave pool, and selection of dining outlets and areas to relax by the pool in the tropical themed surroundings. Aquapolis is another water park in the area of La Pineda, a short bus ride from Salou which has water slides and pools as well as offering guests the ability to get up close and personal with sea lions.
Colourful Annual Celebrations and Landmarks to Keep the Pirates at Bay
Nits Daurades is a colourful event which occurs in August, featuring dances, a beauty competition and music concerts, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display. The heritage of Salou is celebrated in early September, commemorating the historical figure of King Jaume I. There are a number of interesting historical monuments and buildings are scattered throughout Salou, such as the Torre Vella which overlooks the town, originally constructed as a watch tower to keep an eye out for approaching pirates in 1530. There’s also a statue of Jaume I in Paseo de Jaume, which was constructed to commemorate Jaume I conquering Majorca.
Salou offers a laid back atmosphere, with a selection of activities and attractions to appeal to the whole family. Barcelona is also within easy reach by bus, train or car for travellers wishing to explore the dynamic city, which is home to the Camp Nou Football Stadium, Barcelona Zoo and a vibrant shopping and leisure district.

amazing place

loved everything about Salou - it is a place for EVERYONE or all ages... There is something to do all the time but yet you can relax as Salou doesn't have a 'mad-rush' feel about it.. The food is great, the people are great and it feels very safe. A very clean destination with beautiful beaches and great shops and bars to keep you occupied.

Beautiful beaches, great for relaxing but plenty to do if you want

Salou is a lovely resort. The beaches are lovely - sandy, spotlessly clean & safe. There are plenty of play areas in the shade for children. There is a walkway or promenade almost from Port Salou to Cambrils if you fancy going for a long walk. The light show at the fountain is well worth seeing. There are plenty of shops and you can always go into Barcelona which is only a bus or train ride away. Port Aventura is great especially for kids. Its a great place to holiday for families, couples or groups.

Having visited different spanish resorts and different european countries we have found ourselves choosing Salou 4 different summers. It is a great family destination. The people are so friendly-night life great-great places to visit from this central location(Tarragona,Barcelona,Cambrills,Reus). Great waterparks and best of all Portaventura-well worth a visit.

Brilliant Family Holiday!

Salou is one of best places I have been. The people are friendly and it is very clean and family friendly. There is more than enough to do with theme parks and water parks as well as the beach and little parks about for the kiddies. It was quite cheap if you find the right places to eat!! The food was also really really lovely!
