Patrick D., Dublin.
stayed here in feb 14 found the room a bit cold as there was only air-con in the rooms. I went to reception and was instantly given an electric rad- happy days -breakfast was basic but sufficient (could do with a bit of bacon on the menu!) All in all would recommend.
The best thing about my stay was...the staff.

our prefered hotel when staying in Edinburgh
William Burgess, Colchester
This hotel is in a convenient location for North Edinburgh with good transport links to the city centre. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are of a good standard which is what you would expect from Holiday Inn Express. At busy times car parking can be tight although there is parking nearby the hotel. This is our prefered hotel during our frequent visits to Edinburgh.
The best thing about my stay was...Good value for money for Edinburgh

Visiting the Edinburgh Festival and the tattoo my friend and I booked this hotel as it was considerably cheaper than staying in the town centre. The Holiday Inn is situated opposite an excellent new shopping mall and the Royal Yacht Britannia - a must visit. The 22 bus runs every 5 minutes from outside the hotel to Princes Street, single journey £1.30, all day ticket £3.20. Buses run 24/7. The hotel staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant. The whole place is spotless. Rooms are modern, functional and look newly decorated. I was surprised the room had an old style tv as opposed to flat screen. Tea and coffee facilities are in each room as is a hairdryer. Bedding spotless, beds very comfortable, pillows hard. Excellent en suite shower room, towels old and tatty. Buffet breakfast included in room rate, adequate but not amazing. Free parking at hotel. A very good stay. I would certainly recommend this hotel and will use it again if I am in Edinburgh.
The best thing about my stay was...Pleasant staff and transport links

Great room, breakfast adequate
Anne Bell, Tayport, Fife
We were allocated one of the disability-friendly rooms, although we hadn't requested one. The room was much bigger than the one we had stayed in on a previous visit to the same hotel, and basically in a better condition too. Breakfast was ok, but the arrangement of the buffet does not make it easy to negotiate your way round carrying a tray.
The best thing about my stay was...Size and location of the room

Good choice if you don't need to be directly in the city centre
We stayed here for 5 days and were very pleased both with the hotel itself and the standard of service. We arrived early but the receptionist managed to find us a room so as we could check in right away. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious for a hotel in this price class. Breakfast was served from 7:30 to 10:30 on weekdays and 11:30 at the weekend. There were no problems with queues at the buffet even though the hotel was fully booked. The quality of the food was fine for this standard of hotel. As for the location, buses run every 10 minutes or so into the centre. They take about 15 minutes under normal circumstances but sometimes over half an hour in the rush hour. That said, the location of the hotel itself was very quiet and we slept perfectly every night on the very comfortable beds. All-in-all a hotel with very friendly and helpful staff which is an excellent choice for anyone who doesn't want to be bang in the centre of town.

Good value and excellent location
David Bremner, Dundee Scotland
The hotel was very nice, clean and tidy. We were attending a wedding and only really slept in the hotel so did not really experience the full service. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the nice breakfast and the location. There were quite a number of free parking spaces and the bus stop was only 10 metres from the front door and £1.20 up to Princes Street.
The best thing about my stay was...Free parking and convenience of bus

Parking no problem - if none left on grounds, then free on adjacent ground. Room spacious - the bedd is 2x3'3" singles joined together (not slipping apart like many hotels) and possible the most comfortable bed we have slept in. Choice of pillows (soft or firm) good air conditioning, lovely clean showere room/toilet with privacy door. Minor hiccup - hair drier didn't appear tp work. No problem as my wife had her own. On checkout reception said there were 3 (yes 3) switches to activate it! Apparently there was a 3rd one on the skirting board we missed! Apart from the excellent continental breakfasr always offered they have added Scrambled eggs and bacon to this inclusive breakfast. Excellent value at the price paid to Alpharooms
The best thing about my stay was...Comfort

was in edinburgh for bubiness
we have stayed at the holiday inn before ideal location for our needs.we normally book though a different company but decided to give alfa rooms a go.we found alpha rooms organisation to be good. our only dissapointment was we asked for a room on the 3rd or 4th floor with views of the port instead we got a room on the ground floor looking onto a wall. the hotel said they didnt get this request which was disapointing.

Great hotel for short stay. Good value for money
Margaret Crawford, Dumbarton
Very nice hotel for short stay. Really nice room with comfortable bed and nice decor. Great location for shopping at Ocean Terminal across the road. We only stayed one night for a hen night in Edinburgh. 4 quite mature ladies. £10 for a taxi to centre which was great for us. Breakfast was basic but adequate. Few nice extras vending machine, ice machine and microwave in lobby which was good if we had been staying any longer.

Theatre Short Break
Karen Cook, West Coast, Scotland
Great budget hotel, ideal if going to the Playhouse Theatre (5mins on bus). Rooms very clean and beds comfortable, continental breakfast with the added extra of scrambled egg and sausages. Didnt find free parking a hassle at all. Hotel right beside the Ocean Terminal (Royal Yacht Britania) plenty of free parking there if you arrive late in the day. Ideally located for bus to city center, day ticket for Edinburgh £3.00, bus runs all night. Very pleasant surprise. Would definately stay here again.

Friendly, helpful staff. Good location, with excellent Indian restaurant right next door. Small shopping mall across road where access to visit Royal Yatch Britannia is on second floor. Rooms very clean, well equipped and big enough. Breakfast was self service, everything working properly, choice of hot plate - sausages and scrambled eggs, or cereals, toast etc. Would recommend this hotel and would be happy to stop there again.
