About 3 years ago Pestana decided to create the Delfim Hotel as an ""All Inclusive " resort. As a result , the clientele has changed. There are now many more group bookings and the noise level around the hotel and in the dining room can be a bit too much. As always the staff could not be more friendly and helpful. The hotel needs a bit of a facelift. In particular some of the towels are not 4star quality and the TVs could do with an upgrade.
The best thing about my stay was...Hotel room, view and surrounds

Fantastic Family Holiday
O'Hare Family, Co Down
Arrived and greeted by a lovely young female receptionist and got a free upgrade to a 2 bedroom family suite - amazing suites with great views - what a start......we were also with my brother and his family, so housekeeping helped us with the kids swapping rooms etc ! It was just perfect for all of us. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was good - a bit repetitive but you can always find something to eat. Food could have been hotter but there is a microwave in the corner if you want piping hot food. Staff in the restaurant young and hard working - a credit to the Hotel. Pool area lovely and clean and less than a 5 min walk to the best beach ever. Taxi into the little village of Alvor cost E3.25, or a 10 min walk ! We had stayed in their sister hotel Dom Joao 2 years ago - but prefer this Hotel, staff nicer. Would definitely go back to the Delfim. Went to Slide & Splash - fantastic and also done a Silves River Cruise tour (E25-E15) - fantastic too !
The best thing about my stay was...The 2 Bedroom Family Suite

Great family hotel
Louise durkin, Ireland
A great hotel for families with young kids, relaxed , friendly and clean. Food is good and location amazing. Salt water pool, inch better than chlorinated. A lot of Portuguese stay here, a great atmosphere for families. Not your fine dining, ultra modern sort of experience but everything you need to allow you the opportunity to totally relax and enjoy yourselves!
The best thing about my stay was...Kids loved the good food

Mmmm good and not too good
Alison Bentley , Bolton
The hotel is clean, the grounds are well kept, the pool lovely. The down side the food whilst plentiful is bland and cold, the hotel need to put more staff behind bars especially the sunset bar only one gentleman serving all night and you could have a long wait for a drink (no fault of his).
The best thing about my stay was...The grounds with the trees where you could get out of sun

We had a pool facing room. Rooms were very tidy and clean. People working there were helpful and polite. The hotel sits about 1 miles from Alvor town. Very quiet at night.Food was great
The best thing about my stay was...bars and the weather.

We are just back from a 7 night stay in the Delfim, We were two adults and one 14 year old son. We found our stay fantastic from start to finish, The staff were very friendly, the hotel was spotless [ our room was cleaned every day with new towels supplied ] we received new pool towels every day and our parasol was supplied and fitted by the pool staff. The all inclusive was great. We have a very fussy 14 year old eater but the variety of food on offer each day was fantastic. We would have no problem recommending this hotel.

cannot fault it
L. Abraham, Leicester
Great hotel, lovely room with good view from balcony. Great pool with more than enough loungers for everyone although the indoor pool was very small, but warm. Gym, Jaquzzi and sauna. Games room with table tennis, pool, football table. Large bar and concert room but entertainment a bit the same every night. Friendly staff and rooms cleaned daily, free poolside towels for all. Lovely dining room with great selection of food for everyone. Fabulous nearby beach but town a bit of a distance especially at night, but taxi's always available outside hotel. 4euro each way. Could easily just stay at hotel for week if just want a rest.

Bom hotel...piscina imunda!!!

excellent value for money

My family & I (myself, husband & 2 kids) have just returned from 10 lovely days at the Pestana Delfim Hotel. The staff are lovely & very helpful. Our room was on the 7th floor & was spacious enough to accommodate 2 extra beds. We were all inclusive & the food was superb. There was a varied menu at each meal time, so something to suit everyone. The drinks were nice too, especially the wine. The kids were never bored as there was the kids' club & a range of activities every afternoon. There was also live entertainment every night & we also saw a range of very enjoyable shows. We hope to return again in the future.

Not a bad hotel
David Giles, Bournemouth
Hotel was fine, rooms standard, choice of drinks on the AI was limited run out of a few drinks and didn't get any more bottles in for a few days, food was good but repetitive, pool was nice but the pool bar because it wasn't summer (went in sept) it was closed which was very disappointing.

Quiet, lovely and will be back!
Sigmund puddleton, Cheltenham
Sociable, well spoken-english staff.I had clean spotless towels and bed clothes. The whole hotel was spotless and the decor was cosy and i warmed to the hotel very quickly, i felt like i was at home, almost. The small indoor pool was lovely and warm. The food was perfect- not over tried and bizzare forein food, just lovely, simple food such as salmon, chicken, etc. Pestana Delfim is a hotel to keep in mind! p.s i hope that they keep the original decor, it is lush!

I adored the heavenly service!
Hello! It was the best, friedliest hotel I'd been to. i love the decor, 70s and original. i hope that they keep it, its lovely. I never ate so much in my life. i loved the food, it wasn't tinnned or cold. It had a gym, and to lovely pools which were quiet. the hotel was quiet. i dont understand why it was so quiet. Thank you for making my stay so enjoyable, i promise that ill be back!

Nice beach nice clean room but rubbish entertainment
Sewell, North East
Thoroughly enjoyed our ten day stay and will return next year however good points and bad points listed below as honestly as we can!!! Rooms great, roomy, carpeted and clean Locality to beach is excellent and beach is fantastic Our children loved the kids club and the childrens pool which could be observed directly from the sunbeds outside it. Fab! Pools not very clean Food is very average and nothing catered specifically for kids (and ours are fussy so hardly ate throughout the stay) Spent a lot of time waiting for the lifts being situated on 14th floor which is silly with two children aged 4 and 3!! and at busy times it stops on every floor!! They should have give way signs because it appeared to be the portugese families were wanting to be in the lift before you even had chance to get out!! Most of them very rude and couldn't crack a smile. Also miserable pool guy who clearly hated his job and grumpy with the kids. Entertainment was absolutely cr*p. One bloke with a raggy tash and a guitar but luckily two german holiday makers 60 plus decided to entertain us all with their newly learnt dancing skills which resembled a really dodgy version of the merengue. There is a stage with three concrete steps around it that the kids jst charge up and down and run in and out of the curtains. We went once heart in mouths for full 20 mins. Next night went to reception bar which was much better for the kids. There was reptile show and parrot show but neither started til 10:15 which was far too late for our two. If your looking for chilled out holiday close to the beach with very little entertainment then this is the place for you. As mentioned before we will go back nxt year but mainly for the kids club as our kids loved it. The girls helped the little ones paint pictures and make masks etc which was brill but we will be staying away from the kids riot in the entertainment bar.
The best thing about my stay was...Lovely beach and clean room

Beautiful beach nearby
Julie meikle, Stockport
After a five day stay I would say the hotel would benefit an update as it was slightly jaded in areas. The other downside was the entertainment very poor - especially in the evenings. There were a lot of young families & I didn't see any form of entertainment for them at all. There are two bar areas but one of them was shut for three nights (inc Fri & Sat) of our stay as they wanted us to visit the lower bar to watch the organ player. However if you wanted a peaceful after dinner drink you were out of luck. After watching young children jump up & down from the stage for an hour - boredom set in & we retired to our rooms early most evenings. I have visited other hotels where there are separate facilities for youngsters having a disco etc., Also not worth dressing up - most people wear casual attire - you can spot the new guests from the first evening as they have dressed up. Food ok - like most inclusives - a bit of a free for all .... The pool could be great - but quite dirty on the 1st 3 days of our stay - it was cleaned when the hotel became busier. We stayed in a one bedroom suite which was fantastic - very roomy & really clean. The nearby beach is beautiful - & if it hadn't been for that I would not have enjoyed the holiday as much as I did. I would definately not stay here with young children - there is nothing for them here x Maid service daily. Staff are really pleasant & friendly.

OK would go back but needs money spending on the hotel !
The holiday overall was lovely. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite on the 7th floor and into the second day our window blinds broke and the hotel staff arraanged to move us to another suite on the 6th floor as they were unable to fix the problem straight away as it would take a minimum of 6 hors to fix it. I was very impressed with they way it was handled so quickly without us asking for a new room we were offered the new room and was all done within half an hour of our complaint. I belive the hotel has been bought out by the same company that own Vila Sol in Villamoura which is a brilliant hotel so I can see that when they start the upgrading of this hotel it will be of a very good standard. Our room was cleaned every day and towels were changed when ever we needed. We also had a seperate kitchen living room and large bedroom with 2 balconys with table and chairs and 2 sunbeds which was a bonus. The pool needs to be heated or semi heated to take the edge off it. I only ever saw a coulpe of people in it as it was so cold. The indoor pool is very strange as it is in the same room where the night time entertainment is and it is so small it not the best iv seen. The food was lovely and there was always plenty of choice but it did repeat quite a bit. The head chef was a lovely man he always had a smile on his face and interacted with the whole family which was lovely. The hotel shop is a bit naff as it only sells chocolate, shoes and handbags which i found a bit crap. If you want a magazine or newspaper you need to order it the day before which was a bit of a pain. The best thing about this hotel is definatley the beach it was the highlight of our holiday it was by far one of the best beaches iv seen in portugal. There is a beautiful cove with small caves to explore and catch crabs and small fish. There are some cafes on the beach which we didnt try but were always busy which is normally a good sign. Over all i would go back but not until the hotel sorts out the interior decor and changes the furniture especially the beds as you roll together which is a bit anoying. The saviour on rainy days were Cbeebies and C4 and ITV which was great help esp with the kids.

A great holiday. Improve the entertainment and this would be faultless.
The hotel has only just started doing all inclusive since March 31st so didnt have many reviews to go on. So I will try and cover most areas. Alvor itself is a quiet fishing village, only a couple of streets, but Portimao is only a few of minutes away. ( with a McD's if you fancy it!). TIP- If you drive to Portimao/ Praia da Rocha -when you leave the hotel on to the one way road, go staright ahead at the roundabout, dont go back down towards Alvor) Went for the second week of Easter. Quite busy until easter Monday, mainly with Portugese guests. After that, really quiet. Went from over 1000 guests to about 60!! Never had to queue up for food or drink. Cannot fault the service. The food was great. My kids can be quite fussy, but there was always something they liked. Plenty of choices. Breakfast had usual cereals ( cornflakes, cocoa pops, rice crispies ) Most of the usual for the English guests ( eggs- boiled scrambled, fried. Bacon, tomoto, sausages( sorry not the English ones), beans. Also Croissants, yoghurts, fruit, meat cheese, scrambled eggs, bacon, tomato, beans. Lunches and evening meals had a varied choice of salad, meat, fish, pasta with sauces, occasionally chips and plenty of desserts! Afternoon snacks - hot dogs, burgers, cheese or ham on toast and salads Drinks were generally not the branded ones, but they had no issues with ordering 4 beers + per visit ( we went with friends-not all for me!). We ordered Vodka and Tonic. The half pint glass was usually filled with just Vodka and ice. Ask for the mixer separately and grab a spare glass! The entertainment was not the best, but they had something on every night- mainly singers. The entertainments team did a bit of a show a couple of nights which was good fun. The pool was cleaned regularly with plenty of sunbeds- even when it was busy. Towels available by the pool on presentation of a card given to you on arrival. The beach is a very short walk and is fantastic. Internet was 5 euros for 24 hours, but you can only pick it up a good signal around the reception area. Rooms very clean with fresh towels and bedding daily. Had a really good time, would definately recommmend.
The best thing about my stay was...Beach is fantastic. Service excellent. Rooms clean and Beer is free!
