10/10 Amazing

Amazing, caring staff. Nothing is too much trouble

My Wife stayed here several months ago, she was in a very bad way as I was in hospital needing a Biopsy and she was worried that my Cancer was back. The staff were incredibly caring and made sure that she was taken care of. Fatih on reception made sure of this. Luckily my scare was a false alarm. Fast forward 4 months and I am back at hospital, but just for a follow up check. We decided to stay at the Portobello one night and as was approached tve reception Fatih recognised my wife and even remembered her name, he remembered what I was going through and asked if I was ok and said it was nice to see me looking so well. The icing on the cake was when he decided to upgrade us to the Honeymoon Suite, there was a bit of a giggle as we have been married 41 years! We had a wonderful stay, the suite was wonderful and all the facilities that we wanted and needed were there. Hotels are not all about how new or glitzy they are, its also about the staff and service that you receive. The Management also are part of this. We will be staying here again at my next hospital appointment, I'm looking forward to it, a great feeling after going through some hard times in the past. A great hotel in a great location.

The best thing about my stay was...

Extremelly great value for money!

I was staying at this hotel the second time and would most likely be returning. It's got all the basics you need: comfortable rooms, private beach, turkish spa, great food and drink service. Some of the staff members don't speak English, however, everyone Is willing to help. Where they could improve: I had body scrub with massage and facial mask this time and 2 years ago when was visiting for the first time. This year it was quite disapointing. Another thing: don't expect too much from tge entertainment team. The shows in the evenings could be boring and very amateur.

The best thing about my stay was...

Advantages: value for money, got everything you would need

Good hotel, food and drinks but location not great

enjoyed our stay, food and drinks all good. Used a la carte one night food and service was very good, worth the 5 euro extra charge. Pool was ok but impossible to get a bed unless you are a sado that get's up at 6.30 to put your towel on o bed. We went down the beach via the under pass and always got a bed. Entertainment varied some good, some ok and some not so good. Room was reasonable size, comfortable and clean.

The best thing about my stay was...

The weather

Great hotel, service needs improving

I have just spent 8 nights at the Porto Bello hotel in Antalya, after reading so many mixed reviews I didn't know what to expect! If you want a relaxing and quiet pool/beach sort of holiday this hotel is great! I booked it through alpharooms.com when they had half price promotion, which worked out about £20 per person, per night, all inclusive. Which is a great value for money. Hotel is 10 years old and maintained to a high standard throughout. Its situated on the outskirts of Antalya in a residential area. Area itself seemed safe and quiet, but there's not much to see or do. There are a few shops nearby (corner shops). In front of the hotel theres a busy dual carriageway, so a walk by the sea its not very romantic. All hotels on Konyaalti beach have this dual carriageway in front, good thing about this hotel is that it has an underground passage to its private beach, which is great, you can walk from the pool to the beach in about a minute in your swimwear. Food in the hotel was nice and very well presented (esp. starters and desserts), there was a lot to choose from, however most of the mains were same or similar every day, which after a while does become a bit boring and predictable. Dinner times at the buffet restaurant can get very hectic and manic, we were not bothered by it, but some people would be. Theres a la carte restaurant in the hotel, reservation required (surcharge), so a busy dinner at the buffet restaurant can be avoided. We stayed in a standard double room, which was ok, but nothing special, bathroom was very small and dated, which surprised me considering that hotel was built only 10 years ago! Throughout the day there was food served in different areas of the hotel and drinks were available in about 4-5 places. Everything we wanted was included in "all inclusive", apart from the drinks in their nightclub. Hotel does have some sort of entertainment throughout the day (sports activities) and some evenings theres live entertainment on the stage (dance, music). I think that entertainment could be a lot better, they had a "comic evening" which was diabolical! Indoor swimming pool, sauna, turkish bath, spa and gym are all in one place. We used it quite a bit, it never got too busy, even when it rained. Staff were generally ok and helpful, some could speak english, but not all. Sometimes they would keep us waiting and very often they misunderstood us. For a 5 star hotel, service is nowhere near 5 stars, and I believe that this seriously lets the hotel down. Tips: -insist on pool view room (its so much nicer than just overlooking the buildings nearby and if theres something good on the stage by the pool, you can watch it from your balcony) -if you use the spa, don't go by brochure prices, be persistent and haggle, you can get treatments for the fraction of the price -use the photo shop, photo session is free, you just pay for the prints (our pics were amazing), theres loads of different frames to choose from, again be persistent and haggle with them -use public transport, its very frequent and really cheap, 1,75TL to the central Antalya (taxi is between 25-30TL one way) -visit Minicity Park, its very close to the hotel and entrance is only 5TL -if you want a sun lounger by the pool, you will have to get by the pool before 8am, otherwise you don't stand a chance! However, theres loads of sun loungers on the beach, we never struggled there. On the whole I wouldn't give this hotel more than 4 stars, I would recommend it and I would probably stay there again, as we had a very good and relaxing holiday and we paid a fraction of the going rate. However, if you are expecting a westernised 5 star hotel - posh, luxurious, attention to the detail and top notch service - you will have to look else where!
