Sidney Hotel London

, Yorkshire

Stayed here for 2 nights in December. The rooms are quite small I stayed in a twin which was a bit cramped but clean and warm. The shower/ toilet room was very clean and the shower worked well. Breakfast not a lot of choice the usual cereals, fruit juice, toast, tea and coffee nothing for people with a gluten intolerance.( They aren't on there own not catering for people with allergies). On the whole the Hotel is a nice clean place to stay and I will stay there again. Also the Hotel is very close to Victoria bus and tube stations which make it very easy for getting around London.

The best thing about my stay was ...

The locality.

Lovely, clean, well run hotel. Its in a great location...short walk to Victoria station. Dining room lovely and breakfast (continental) great with plenty of toast, coffee, oj and amazing croissants. The room we were in was right beside the lift and we didn't hear a thing a night time so good soundproofing in this hotel. The only LITTLE niggle we had was that the room was very cramped, not much floor space but having said that it was modern and very clean with free wifi in the room, tv, hairdryer, tea/coffee facilities and we even spotted and iron/ironing board on the corridor for all to use. So, overall, lovely, comfortable, staff very friendly and helpful and I would definitely stay here again.

The best thing about my stay was ...

cleanliness of the hotel and free wifi

Really Good for prices, however beds and room stupidly small!!

, Wales

Had a lovely time in London and for the price we paid for this hotel we couldn't complain. However if your paying more than £80 for two nights you might be a little disappointed. The room we had we so small we could hardly move, it was a good job we left first thing in the morning and came home late most nights. Another thing was the bed, i booked a double room however the bed barely fit both me and my partner in and we are a small couple including my partner. Also breakfast no cooked breakfast.. Very limited but nice what was on offer. For a little get away I would more than likely return to this hotel.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Hotel is very clean, staff are lovely and it's quiet so guaranteed a peaceful stay.

Perfect stay for 2 weekend break in central London

, Scotland

Do not be put off by the bad review on TripAdvisor, this really is a great hotel. I was down for the Aerosmith concert in Clapham and was travelling via bus from Glasgow. The hotel is literally a 5 min walk from Victoria Rail / tube station, which itself is only 2 stops away from Picadilly Circus. Onto the room...For the price i paid for a single room, i was expecting very very basic however i was pleasantly surprised. The room was not great in size, but this is standard in central London especially for a single room. The bathroom had its own shower, which was spotless and it looked as it been renovated very recently. Nice mosaic tiling and modern, shower was great. Better than some 4 star ive been in! Bed was comfortable, and flat screen mounted on the wall if you wanted television. Breakfast was continental so not ideal if you were looking for a cooked breakfast, but lets be honest that is not why we go to a hotel. Would highly recommend!

The best thing about my stay was ...

Location, room, cleanliness.

great hotel close to the center

, roma

great hotel close to the center, the Victoria station is just a few minutes, the staff is very friendly, the room is small and very clean, the breakfast is continental and is the same every day, I will certainly return to this hotel in London.

The best thing about my stay was ...

the beautiful facade of the building

will not be back

, Dungannon

A poor hotel. The accommodation just about reached standard. The first room allocated was just big enough to accommodate a double bed. To get to the other side of the bed it was necessary to climb over the top of the bed. I returned to reception and informed them that I had booked a double room and eventually I was put in a so called en-suite which boasted a cube unit for a bathroom come shower. All in all breakfast was not any better than the accommodation. A very definite 2 out of 10

Where was the decent breakfast? Even continental can be more than cereal, toast and criossants. Nobody said that we would have to pay £10 just to watch basic TV. Lovely artworks on the walls. Polite, pleasant staff. Clean room. Queues for breakfast. Close to tube and central London.

Good value, great staff

, Coventry

+ Good value hotel, staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast. Opened for breakfast early, for London Marathon runners. Rooms, bar, in fact the whole hotel clean and tidy. Good, well stocked bar with friendly staff. Room a little on the small size but okay for a few days. I would recommend this hotel to people. - Rooms a little on the small size, but okay for a short stay. I booked a twin and ended up with a double room. But wasn't the hotel's fault it was the booking agency.

The best thing about my stay was ...

The staff, the breakfast.

Would Return

We really enjoyed our week at the Sidney Hotel London Victoria. In a safe well maintained street this hotel is in a very central location with the Pimlico Subway 5 minute walk away and Victoria station 10 minutes. The rooms, although compact, are comfortable and nicely furnished. We had a 'hearty' full English breakfast every morning before setting off to explore the wonderful and varied sites of London. Would recommend.

Helpful staff and convenient location

, Cardiff, Wales

The double room is tiny and the bed also looks small. The staff was helpful and upgraded us when I produced a booking confirmation stating twin room. As there wasn't any twin room available, the staff gave us a family room with three beds. The size of the family room was acceptable. The room was warm and so we slept with the window opened. Breakfast was better than expected as it was a cooked breakfast with choices.

The best thing about my stay was ...

No. 24 bus (runs all night and goes to Westminster, Leicester Square + Camden Town Market) is right outside hotel. Pilmico tube station is 5 mins walk from the hotel.

Comfortable hotel with a good location

, Dublin

Hotel is a pretty standard 3 star type, converted Victorian Buildings. Breakfast was good if a little busy. Rooms were recently decorated, but our back facing ground floor room was pretty cold when the heating was off and also quite a lot of damp and some mildew in the corners next the windows.

Fine for a Short stay

, Scone, Scotland

My wife and I spent 3 nights during early August 2010. Location of hotel was excellent for transport/ sight seeing. First impression was of a clean and modern hotel similar to that of a Holiday Inn/ Travelodge facility. Our room on the 3rd floor was quite compact as highlighted by previous comments on Trip Adviser etc. Nevertheless it proved adequate for a short visit. The bathroom was an experience ! One can only describe it as similar to a compact touring caravan bathroom. It was of modular design and left little room for maneuvering. Any large framed or well built person would find it quite challenging to say the least. Breakfast was served in basement of the hotel providing a reasonable range of choices. At times it was very busy and occasionally you had to wait until a table was vacated. Staff were friendly and helpful during our stay and we were able to leave luggage until we departed later in the day. All in all a reasonable hotel that I would consider again.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Clean, modern hotel in good central location with helpful staff.

Sidney Hotel

, Bristol

The Sidney Hotel is in a very good position. We stayed there to visit the Chelsea Flower Show and could walk there. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the rooms nicely furnished and clean and, although a little on the compact size, obviously space is at a premium in this part of London. Good value for money. We would certainly stay there again.

How I found the Sidney Hotel

, France

I went to this hotel from 22/12/07 to 01/01/08. I enjoyed my stay there. The room I had was small but it doesn't matter when you visit London since you are only in the hotel to sleep or rest. I was in the -1 level at the restaurant level in room 604. At night you sometimes hear people walking on the pavement since you are under the road level but this is not very disturbing. The breakfast was good (bacon/sausage/egg/scramble eggs/mushrooms/beans/cereals/tea/coffe/milk/toasts). The room was cleaned every day. There was a hair dryer, a water boiler, tea and coffee and milk in the beroom. The people of the hotel were kind. The only negative point I can see is that I paid 35 pounds for 10 days of internet and was only able to connect to internet 3 times. My computer was without wire (WIFI) but that never worked. I had to plug a line to connect to internet and even that only worked 3 times. I advise people not to bring their computer with them to use internet in that hotel. It is better to go to an internet bar in London where you'll pay 1 pound for an hour or you can use the hotel computer at the entry of the hotel. Apart from that the hotel is at about 10 to 15 minutes from Victoria station and about 15 to 10 minutes by foot from Big Ben, Westminster, Buckingham Palace. Victoria station is connected to Gatwick airport via the Gatwick express train ( about 26 pounds for a round ticket) and has the subway and bus stations too. Near Victoria Station are 2 theatres where you can see musicals. If you take the oyster card and the subway you'll be on the opposite side of London (Tower Bridge) for instance in about 20 minutes. I think that if I come back to London, I won't mind going back to that hotel but I won't pay for internet !
