6/10 Good

Some good some not so good.

, Ireland

My review might be somewhat biased by the fact I had two sick kids the week of the holiday so ability to enjoy anything was limited. Rooms -clean and cleaned regular enough, bedsheets weren't changed whole week. Beds hard did not enjoy sleeping although I was coughing all night so wasn't gonna be great anyway. Food-first three days(fri-sun) great, after three days the meats were tough and the options not as good. We stuck with buffet whole week although there was an Italian and canarian restaurant also but it must be booked within a day of arrival. Resort- big resort, in fact hard to find your way around as the signs confusing. We stayed on island side, the kiddies pool was closed off near our room and there was a large area sectioned off for renovation. Opposite my room, I had two days of a running consaw along with other building work, that wasn't great, considering many rooms were empty they could have placed us elsewhere. Staff- they were hard working genuine locals, happy with all the staff. Playa blanca-probably 15 minute walk to playa blanca from the back gate. Its a nice area in town and taxis back only 3 euro. Plenty of pools, sunchairs etc. I chose not to sit by main pool as the animation team some days really blasted put those tunes. Sat up near them one day and I couldnt hear what my family were saying. Not for me but maybe for others. We went all inclusive for the week, because if you have young kids its not viable to keep going to town to eat.

The best thing about my stay was ...

The family friendly atmosphere

Needs painting.

It was nicely set up. I have 8 and 11 year old sons and they enjoyed. But my apartment was next to food center needed painting and couldn't open bathroom window as handle was broke. Food on resort not great. But they were very clean and pleasant. I went self catering and they only had a hand brush, could do with a proper sweeping brush. It cost me €15 to hire an iron for week, only wanted it for one day but they said minimal was a week. But still had a great time there.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Best thing was all the individual pools meant there was always sun beds available.

Super holiday site lots to do!!

, London

We travelled last week of May, for 10 days. The hotel is spread over a big plot with lots of beautiful palm trees and different vegetation. Great contrast with the journey trough the arid land on the journey from the airport. We had a ground floor apartment right by one of the eight pool and baby pools. Pool water a bit cold in the morning from over the night but great in the afternoon. Mornings are great at the beach!! Apartment was kept very clean by the cleaning ladies..they are very good and the reception staff is very nice!! The food in the restaurant was lovely too, with lots of choice of meats, salads and some Spanish paellas. There was a choice of freshly cooked fish or meat everyday. The big pool was cool and the bar was serving a nice grill everyday..freshly cooked in front of you.plenty of choice. Staff around the pool were friendly and always there for activities. The children 4&8 loved the kids club and staff and made lots of friends every morning. I was able to attend the morning exercises for adults and loved the variety: yoga, streching, tai chi.. also could not keep away from the afternoon Zumba a few times.. The doctors are close £3 a taxi take your passport and ehic card..or private doctor available 24h £150 charge if comming to your room Just wish we could have stayed longer to join in all activities..as 10 days were not enough.. We will definitely go back and take friends next time.. The Odells Ickenham,West London

Good hotel for families.Very clean. Staff friendly and helpful.Animation team worked hard but generally entertainment usual run of the mill stuff that you always get at all inclusive resorts. Sometimes there were long queues at the pool bar during the day....only one member of staff on. , this was also a problem in the entertainment area at night . Plenty, of comfortable sun loungers round the complex,. lifeguards on duty at the main pool.Apartments spacious with good sized balcony.Beds not made every day and one day all towels taken and not replaced.Shop on site very expensive...better to take walk into town.My daughter had a massage at the spa which she said was good value for money and got free session in hot tub/Jacuzzi. Grandson loved the holiday.Would definitely go again as a family holiday as complex offers good value for money

Great value,Probably will be back here

Just Back from Blanca. Stayed here for 4 nights. We only wanted a place to sleep and shower as we regularly go to PB. The room was clean and showers were excellent, always hot water. The kitchenette was well equipped with toaster, coffee maker, kettle, pans etc. The TV had English channels ITV,CH4,BBC1,2 SKY NEWS ETC (which is very rear over here) Which is great if you are sitting in with kids or just relaxing. The beds and furniture are basic but what you would expect from this kind of accommodation. Room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels left. I asked for AC but was told they only start AC in May ,Luckily we did not need it. We had a quick look around the complex and it is vast with loads of activities for kids, shops restaurants etc. each block of apartments seemed to have its own pool with kids pool. I cant speak about the food or drink as we eat out everyday there are loads of nice restaurants in PB which are good and very reasonable .Location wise its about 20 min walk to town centre. if you are not the kind of person who stays at the hotel all day spit roasting yourself and trying to spend nothing. Then you should rent a car !!!. It will cost you the same as the taxi fare to and from the airport and it gives you freedom to go where and when you want. There are some lovely beaches in Papagayo about 10 min drive from Hotel it is rough Terrain so be prepared. also some parts are nudist so beware ,the second last one is the best and has a lovely bar restaurant perched on the cliff top. There is a toll on the way so bring some cash with you. The Rubicon Marina is worth a visit also Lovely restaurants but not cheap, you will get just as good in town on the seafront but not quite a luxurious. If you want some entertainment and a few Beers then go to mollies bar which is on the way into main centre They have Music every night and its owned and run by Irish family the rest of the bars are like bingo halls serving beer ,maybe a bit harsh... . The unfortunately named "YOUNG BULL CHOP" is none other than A massive T-bone steak that will test the best of you but worth trying at least once If you see it on offer.

Brilliant stay at tropical island

, Ellesmere Port, UK

Based on what we paid, our expectations weren't high, however we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the rooms, everything felt brand new, very spacious, extremely comfortable beds, pool areas fabulous, staff always working hard maintaining the grounds, beautiful scenery, nothing too much trouble for reception staff. Would highly recommend this hotel for families and couples. Only negative was that it was about 20 minute walk from town which we didn't mind too much but only 3 euros in taxi so not all bad.

stayed at thb tropical Island for two weeks 30-03 to 13 04 2015 with my 3 children. 13 11 and 9. made very welcome. Staff very helpful and friendly. kids had lots of actives all day. this was a all inclusive holiday. food very good and a good choice. rooms a little dated but clean lots of towels hot water and you don't go on holiday to stay in your room. Only down side was the main pool with the slides and why we booked the hotel was closed for refurbishment. However lots of other pools onsite and it didn't matter I didn't feel the need to complain because my kids where happy I was happy and the holiday was great. Could of easily stayed another two weeks . Improvements I would like to see at the Hotel, free wifi, and safe. Thanks THB. will be going again...Craig

The best thing about my stay was ...

Fantastic resort! Great value for money.

My partner and I are both well travelled and have stayed in a great number of hotels in the past and I can honestly say we could not fault this hotel in any way. It is great for both adults and children with lots to do! The main swimming pool was closed whilst we were there but this did not effect our trip in the slightest despite having an 8 year old son who loves water slides. There are so many other swimming pools, and of a good size, that we didn't even notice! Due to the size of the complex and the number of swimming pools the hotel, despite being full, did not appear to be. We felt safe in the complex possibly due to the location but also due to to size and gated entrance. Our son was able to walk to the football pitch/ snack bar and back to our apartment on his own. The staff here are all friendly and approachable. They couldn't do enough for you. We went all inclusive, again which was fantastic. There is two themed resteraunts a main restaurant and pool bars serving drinks. There is a different theme every evening in the main restaurant. The food was hot, and there was a good choice. Drinks are available between 10am and 12pm. The bar staff always ask if it is to take away or drink in. This was great for us as on an evening my partner would get us a drink to relax on our balcony before dinner. The location on the hotel, or village as we would call it, is about a 10 minute walk to the beach/resort. It is approximately €3 in a taxi so we would normally walk one way and get a taxi back. The resort of playa blanca is lovely. It has shops, bars, resteraunts for every taste. I would highly recommend a walk to the marina, especially on a Wednesday or Saturday when it's market day. The resort is clean, and most importantly you don't get hassled by people trying to sell you things on the street. I would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel/resort/village. We are already thinking about our return trip!

The best thing about my stay was ...

Value for money, size of complex, felt safe (although son would say football pitch)

a bit basic, but the biggest let down was the main pool being closed the whole week looking very unlikely to be open soon. we werent told about this prior to our visit.

December 2014. This hotel was let down by the restaurant basically it was not in the least big enough. It had about 250 seats crammed together and there are 400 rooms all capable of sleeping 4 people. There were queues most of the 7 days we were there. The staff worked really hard and the tables were cleaned fast to accommodate the next eaters. They were just fighting a loosing battle. The tavern was understaffed it needed one other to assist in the clearing of tables and cleaning glasses. The rest of the hotel was ok rooms clean as was the public areas and the staff worked really hard and were friendly.

The best thing about my stay was ...

The rooms were large

Just came back from tropical island and first of all I can say it's is very busy and the reps ensure there is plenty to do for kids and adults (if they want to). Food is ok with different themed nights, we could find always find something to eat. The snack bar is open from 12 til 5 and always well stocked. Negative points are 1. Not enough sun beds for the guests, guests start putting towels on beds about midnight even if there stacked. 2. Restaurant is jay packed, tables and chairs are so close together it's like an assault course to get to the food. 3. Drink facilities in the restaurant were regularly not working which in turn increased the queue length to get served.

The best thing about my stay was ...

clean and they with large rooms

Enjoyed the resort and the food but the rooms defo need an update

, Manchester

We had a fantastic time at Sun Island, the food was really good and would rate it as 4 stars, the resort itself was fantastic, kids enjoyed the small pools as they were warmer, we found we didn't really have to go off the resort for anything. The only downfall is the rooms, they are big enough but they really need some work on them and the beds were terrible, even my 8 year old said how bad the beds were.

ENJOYABLE HOLIDAY - FAB POOLS - LOVELY COMPLEX

, DURHAM

RETURNED ON 16/8/11 AND HAD GREAT TIME. COMPLEX LARGE 10 POOLS & 5 BABY POOLS. OUR APARTMENT HAD A POOL RIGHT OUTSIDE WHICH WAS FAB, NO GETTING UP EARLY FOR SUNBEDS!!! KIDS LOVED THE POOL IT WAS LIKE HAVING OUR OWN, THEY COULD GO FROM POOL TO ROOM TO DRY OFF AND SIT INSIDE WHEN TOO HOT AND I DIDNT EVEN HAVE TO GET OFF MY SUNBED - BLISS!! THE ROOMS WERE SPACIOUS AND CLEAN ALTHOUGH NO DRAWERS BUT PLENTY WARDROBE SPACE,GREAT HAVING A FRIDGE, THE HAIRDRYER WASNT VERY GOOD HAD 3 GIRLS HAIR TO DRY SO TAKE YOUR OWN.ON AN EVENING WE ALWAYS USED THE SUN ISLAND DOME FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT WHICH WAS MORE INTERNATIONAL - THE TROPICAL DOME WAS ALL ENGLISH AND YOU HAD TO QUEUE UP AT 8 OCLOCK FOR A SEAT AND USUALLY FOR THE BAR, NOT THE CASE IN SUN ISLAND. THE FOOD WAS FINE ALWAYS SOMETHING TO EAT AND ALWAYS HOT, ONLY DOWNSIDE WAS NOT ENOUGH STAFF TO COPE WITH CLEARING TABLES, REPLENISHING PLATES, CUTLERY ETC, HAD TO WAIT QUITE A FEW TIMES BUT THIS WOULD NOT STOP US GOING BACK. OVERALL A RELAXING HOLIDAY IN LOVELY SURROUNDINGS FOR A GREAT PRICE

Big Complex, fab entertainment

, Fife

ok so some of the reviews make you wonder if you have made a mistake on booking the holiday - hopefully this will clear this up for you. Sun Island and Sun tropical are mirror images of each other you can get from one to the other, you can use both restaurants and both entertainment sections (the dome -which is coincidentally all inside) Do get the back gate key - 10 euros its massive you can't miss it Safe is huge plenty of room for ds's etc 35 euros for 2 weeks The Rooms - We had a 1 bed apartment the rooms are a really good size with small kitchen area and table and chairs the sofa bed has a pull out bed below. The fridge (important to me for medication) is really good with a freezer section above and remains on at all times. The air con is fab and you can get some english channels on the tv if thats important for you. The hair dryer is ok but you could stay there for an age if you have long hair. My only gripe is I would have liked the floors mopped a little more often. Some rooms you walk out to a park, some just a grass area and some a small pool - we booked garden view and got the play park ideal for the kids while we got ready. We went to the big sun tropical pool most days the thomas cook entertainment team (mikey, katy, rj, ben & richie) work so hard and have entertainment from 11am plenty to do with a certificate if your 'man of the match', there is a lifeguard that walks around as well, the main one we saw did change his shorts more times in the day than i care to imagine but when my 3 year old decided to try to run through glass (because he wasn't watching where he was going) he was really good at helping us and kept checking he was ok, if he saw kids struggling to climb out of the pool he would help them and try to spk to them the best he could. yes you fight for a sun bed (where don't you) and they were trying to resolve this but we're british and this is generally always the case. The pool is slippy so swimming shoes are a good investment. The pool bar, there is one person serving so give her a break when she has to pee, its nature! One of the women is miserable and her face may crack if she smiles but there is one lady who is lovely always replies to the kids stated how impressed she was how british children try the lingo and are polite. Food Ok it isn't that bad we actually thought it was ok and after speaking with the entertainment team it has got much better recently as they have been on the case. Breakfast is a fight for a table in both restaurants (but we were always there around 9.30) breakfast finishes at 10.15, it could have done with being on later. There was cereal, toast (q for toaster), sausages, hash browns, scrambled egg, pancakes (at tropical only) fried egg, fruit , yogurts. All was ok except bacon. Lunch/tea you had pasta, rice chips/wedges/baked potato, sauces, fish chicken, chicken nuggets, pizza, veal casserole, rolls, ice cream dessert - my kids ate an abundance every meal. entertainment - evening if you don't like to get involved its not for you. we do and its fab. i'm not one for bingo but we played and won. kids disco is good my kids wanted there everyday and my eldest gets really nervous at these things. There is always a show - thomas cook ones are great local are debatable(its only once a week) t/c team try to get you all to do the conga at the end of the night and you might need to give up your lipstick for a while for mr sun tropical. Learn cartoon heroes have a laugh and join in with your kids your on holiday, nobody knows you! the q for the bar can look long but they get through it. It was a fab holiday - only thing i wasn't keen on was the area. Give the staff a break, it isn't the staffs fault that there are only 3 of them for breakfast, management think that storming in makes it work, it works because there an extra pair of hands (i told them as much), join in if you don't like it go somewhere else. The spanish are rude queing isn't in there nature.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Entertainment and having a great time as a family.
