Review of Castle Hotel

Excellent location with just a short walk to city centre attractions. Hotel is old, but our room was clean and a good size. Breakfast was good value with a good selection and the traditional Irish entertainment in the Vault bar was of a good standard. Only downside for us was the noise from adjacent room and room above. This due to the age of the hotel and it's very creaky floorboards.

The best thing about my stay was...

The Central location and the cleanliness of the room.

Waltons hotel

Me and my friend stayed here for one night, i have to be honest- we were hardly in the hotel because dublin is fantastic and we didnt want to waste time in a hotel! However, that said, it is a lovely hotel- clean and fairly central (about 10 mins from temple bar where the nightlife is excellent!). the perfect base for a fabulous weekend away!

Review of 'Waltons'

Stayed here with a group of friends, not a bad location but at least ten minutes on foot from Temple Bar. Staff were both friendly and rude, Hotel was clean but very basic.
We had 4 rooms but only 1 room had a hairdrier and when we requested another we were told there were none. Full Irish breakfast was lovely once you found the dining room!!!! Not recommended for people who struggle with stairs as there are several small flights on each floor.

Review of 'CASTLE'

The Castle Hotel offers a traditional warm Irish welcome, the staff could not be more helpful. With its Georgian history very evident in its decor and style. Great to see that some things are preserved and maintained in a city that is ever changing. The twin room I stayed in was spacious although the bathroom was a little cramped. Its location made it ideal for my trip with easy access to all the local amenities and places of interest. I would recommend the hotel for a short mid week break or a long weekend as I did, which offers great value for money.

Review of 'CASTLE'

Castle Hotel had comfortable beds, good breakfast and helpful reception. It was very convenient for the airport bus drop and city buses and there were plenty of eating places nearby.
It was in the process of being renovated and they hadn't reached our room so it was a little shabby but there was a good bathroom with an excellent shower and a good bar with a TV to watch the world cup!

Bad Review of 'CASTLE'

Despite being well located in a grand building the hotel and rooms were tatty and badly maintained. The decor was patchy and had been thoughtlessly retouched over the years and the furniture looked like it had been collected from skips over a period of years. I expected much better for the money that was being taken for the rooms. Worst of all was the surly receptionist who acted like we were disturbing her whenever we needed anything. I would forgive this if it wasn't for the fact that the reason for us "disturbing" her was that the room we were given the key to hadn't even been cleaned since the last guest. Towels on the floor, sheets dirty and used, ashtray full. This was at 3.00pm so there was no excuse. The breakfast was a tepid plate of slop that had moved so quickly from the can to the microwave to the table that it hadn't had time to even meet any baked beans along ther way. Dublin was wonderful, but the Castle Hotel is to be avoided.

The Castle Hotel location was good, the room was very grand, high ceilings chandeliers and a fireplace. Staff were friendly sheets changed everyday. Nice breakfast.
