nothing special

The hotel is enormous and therefore lacks a personal touch, you really feel like you are just another number and the only attention you receive is another request for you to spend more money, on the spa, on 'special' drinks, on excursions etc. Although I expect to be hassled on the streets in Egypt, it would be nice to find haven inside the hotel at least. The facilities are good especially the aqua park. Our son braved the pirate ship pool despite the freezing water. Again, I don't expect all the pools to be heated but perhaps heating the pool that is destined for toddlers would at least allow them to use it. That said, the amount of chlorine used in the pool meant that he ended up with allergic dermatitis and so we stuck to the beach, which was lovely. Having stayed in Sharm el Sheikh, we have to say that the fish in Hurghada are not as amazing. Finally the food. I am the first to ignore the moaning we can always read about the food in Egyptian hotels. I have been to many hotels that most reviewers thought had terrible food and found it fine. In the Titanic, however, the food really is terrible. Some say it is catered to the Russian majority but I think the simply use incredibly cheap and poor quality produce and then keep it luke warm for hours. The worst was Christmas eve, we were allocated a 90 minute slot, queued up for about 45 minutes to receive more or less the same food as usual - thin turkey rolled around thick stuffing and soggy potato croquettes. As we finally made it back to the table with dessert, we were told we had five minutes then we had to leave. The whole meal was accompanied by the busy waiters banging plates and cutlery and shouting at each other. My husband finally said it was the worst Christmas dinner he had ever had - and he has spent some awful Christmases. We chose this hotel over a smaller one since it offered so much for the children, and are now in the Marriott for the rest of our trip. My nine year old has finally decided that she would rather eat well and have a small heated pool.
